What is VESDA !
The VESDA detection system consists of a pipe network leading from the detector to the area to be protected. An aspirator inside the detector housing draws air from the protected area through air sampling points (holes) made in the pipe and brings it to the detector. At the detector, the air is analysed by an optical (laser) smoke detection chamber.
It is considered an ACTIVE system because it does not rely on airflow to perform smoke sampling and can be used in both high airflow and still air environments.
